Garrett Hamlin: Overcomer of the Year

We are beyond thrilled to share that one of our incredible pALS (person living with ALS), Garrett Hamlin, has been featured as the cover star and “Overcomer of the Year” in Northern Arizona Real Producers magazine! 🎉

Garrett’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. A dedicated U.S. Army veteran, commercial pilot, IT network engineer, real estate broker, and mentor, Garrett has lived a life full of adventure, perseverance, and service. His career has spanned multiple industries, each reflecting his passion for excellence and his commitment to uplifting those around him.

In 2018, Garrett was diagnosed with ALS—a devastating disease that affects the nerves controlling movement. Told he had only three years to live, Garrett refused to accept the prognosis without a fight. He took charge of his health, pushing the boundaries of what was expected, staying active, maintaining a strict diet, and seeking every possible way to extend his quality of life. Today, six years later, he continues to defy the odds, crediting faith, determination, and a powerful support system for his continued strength.

Garrett’s story is a powerful reminder that life is fragile but also full of opportunities to make a difference. He challenges us all with a simple but profound question: If you only had three years to live, what would truly matter to you? What’s stopping you from living that way now?

At ALS Arizona, we are proud to stand alongside Garrett and others fighting ALS. Their resilience fuels our mission to find a cure and support the ALS community every step of the way.
